Pelagic, mid-water and deep water products obtained through more than 100 contracted purse purse and trawler fishing boats operating in the Mediterranean, Aegean Sea and Black Sea are delivered to the end consumer through a systematic marketing channels, accompanied by a cold chain, while preserving their original freshness. Solution partner fishing boats comply with the laws and regulations of both the European Union and the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Forestry, and all fishing operations are carried out in a sustainable format with the principle of zero waste and optimum size and quantity of fishing. Şahin Group, which is the main supplier of intensively produced anchovy and sardine fish, makes a significant contribution to Turkish fisheries as a implementer of sustainable fishing principles.

 

 

 

WHOLESALES (İZMİR FISH MARKET)

The biggest driving force in Şahin Group’s growth is its activities at the İzmir Fish Market, where caught fishery products are marketed as wholesale. The practical reflex gained by marketing different numbers and quantities of seafood coming from more than 100 fishing vessels on the same day in a short time within the Fish Market system for 20 years has been integrated with cold storages and Processing Factory and has made Şahin Group the largest supplier of different species at the same time.

 

 

COLD STORAGE SERVICES

Operating within Şahin Group, an important service is provided to other fish companies with the cold storages with the largest volume (21750 m3) near Izmir Fish Market. It is an important responsibility goal for Şahin Balıkçılık to preserve the freshness of not only its own products, but also the products of hundreds of companies trading in the Fish Market, without breaking the cold chain. Thus, seafood products, which are very prone to spoilage, are brought from the Fisheries Market, preserved, and delivered to the tables without losing their freshness.

PROCESSING AND PACKAGING FACTORY

The Fish Processing and Packaging Factory within Şahin Group is located in the Fish Market area in Buca District of Izmir Province. Our facility complies with national and international food safety criteria (Turkish Food Codex Regulation and Codex Alimentaris Commission) and has a health approval number from the EU. Şahin Group, which guarantees that the cold chain is protected all the way to the table, has ISO 9001 Quality and HACCP and ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System standards certificates.
Products accepted to the Processing and Packaging Factory are sized and packaged according to the desired dimensions. Gutted or filleted products and all other seafood products are packaged and stored freshly, chilled or frozen according to demand. Packaging processes are carried out in fresh, frozen, MAP (Modified Atmosphere Packed) and boxed forms.
All production stages are controlled and recorded by the responsible Fisheries Engineers and Food Engineers. Hard styrofoam (EPS) boxes are used for fresh products in the facility. Cartoon boxes with food safety certificates are used for frozen products.

 

 

MUSSEL FARM

In 2023, a black mussel farm with a capacity of 1000 tons was put into operation in the Özbek town of Urla district of İzmir province, on an area of 10000 m2 with optimum water quality, and black mussel production is carried out with high efficiency. Mussels that reach the harvest stage are sorted and packaged in modernized operation boats and is offered to the domestic market. At the same time, mussel meat, which is heat treated in the boiling unit at the processing facility within Şahin Group, is packaged and exported in a frozen form.
